July 4, 1933 - Fire Company takes delivery of first motorized fire truck, 1932 Ward LaFrance, cost $3,900.00

Jan 9 1942- Earl Espenshade suggested Women’s Auxiliary

 May 8 1942 Due to war emergency extra fire chief’s to be appointed.

 July 9 1943 Ordered new booster tank for Ward LaFrance

 Aug 13 1943 Request to federal government for portable pump denied, no vital defense industries in the community

 Aug 13 1943 Acknowledgment of a separate Fireman’s Relief Association, clothes bought from Nieman’s can probably be paid for with relief funds.

 Oct 8 1943 No card playing at the bar

 Jan 14 1944 Leak in Ward LaFrance gas tank

 Feb 13 1948 Harry Burd gave report on progress of new Fireman’s Club building

 Aug 13 1948 Discussion on fire company’s representative to Park and Recreation

 Sep 10 1948 Mention of a telephone bill

 Nov 11 1948 Contact Gilbert Neff about ambulance service to all fires

General editor’s notenote” Local funeral home (Neff’s) provided ambulance service for the community up until the late 50’s or early 60’s.

 

Jan 14 1949 Replace search light on fire truck

Mar 11 1949 Decision on location of siren on building

April 8 1949 Dedication of new building to be held Sep 3 1949 instead of Labor Day

April 9 1949 6 members placed on 6 months probation due to disturbance on club premises. Also the letters were sent on club letter head. (Editors Note: Secretary of the club was different from the company so apparently separate entities at that time.)

May 13 1949 No participating in parades this year due to only one piece of fire fighting equipment. Also a committee was formed to decide how much to pay visiting fire companies who participate in parade on 3 Sep 1949.

May 15 1949 CentreCounty Vol Fireman’s Assoc Meeting held at 2:30 PM in the Odd Fellows Hall in Millheim.

Oct 14 1949 Motion did not pass that we negotiate for a new fire truck.

Jan 13 1950 Chief said we have to either overhaul existing truck or else buy a new one.

Apr 14 1950 Decision to buy American LaFrance truck made

June 9 1950  Fire Company estimated new truck to cost $20,000. Asked club for a donation of that amount.

Oct 13 1950 Paul Bright in charge of Home Defense asked for use of engine room as their headquarters. Siren to be used for air raids as well.

Dec 8 1950 New fire truck collided w/ truck belonging to Paul Gilmore. Fire truck fender damaged in the collision.

Dec 8 1950 Fire Co paid their dues to Neff Ambulance service.
